Is Summer Really Suitable for Laser Freckle Removal?

Is Summer Really Suitable for Laser Freckle Removal?-

Every summer, there are always some beauty seekers who believe that the sunlight is too strong and not suitable for removing spots. Is summer really not suitable for freckle removal? What should we do when the seeker of beauty says so?                 Today, let’s explore together.

Why Do Some Beauty Seekers Believe that Summer Is Not Suitable for Freckle Removal

Generally, beauty seekers are concerned about removing freckles in summer, mainly because they believe that the strong sunlight in summer is a taboo period for photothermal therapy. At this time, removing freckles will greatly affect the treatment effect, and may lead to skin sensitivity, pigmentation, worsening of pigmentation, and skin aging, which cannot achieve the ideal beauty effect.

Is Summer Really Not Suitable for Laser Freckle Removal Treatment

There are indeed some challenges in removing freckles in summer. This is because: high UV intensity in summer can easily lead to pigmentation. High temperatures can exacerbate oxidative stress and promote the formation of melanin. High temperatures may also lead to endocrine disorders, further exacerbating pigmentation problems. But it doesn’t mean that summer is not suitable for laser freckle removal treatment. The key factor affecting freckle removal is not the season, but the care after laser treatment.

A study selected 86 patients undergoing skin laser cosmetic treatment and divided them into two groups of 43 patients each, based on different skin care modes. The control group received routine care, mainly introducing the medication time, dosage, etc. in detail to patients after laser beauty treatment, and informing patients of specific precautions from daily care, dietary habits, etc., and supervising timely follow-up visits to introduce basic sun protection knowledge.

The observation group received comprehensive skin care intervention on the basis of routine skin care. ①Detailed sun protection care interventions: including strict physical and chemical sun protection. ②Optimize preventive care work: including cold spray or medical ice pack cold compress, selectively apply moisturizing cream, recombinant epidermal growth factor spray, or use high-energy red light therapy device to irradiate the affected area to achieve inflammation inhibition, pain relief, and further accelerate wound healing, based on the pain site and trauma situation. ③Psychological care.

The research results indicate that effective skin care interventions for patients undergoing skin laser treatment can help promote the recovery of the skin to a good state and improve patient satisfaction.

The temperature in summer is relatively high, which can promote the body’s metabolism and help the skin eliminate aging sebum and waste. Clinical observations have shown that the metabolic cycle of the skin in summer can be shortened to around 21 days (about 28 days in winter), which helps to dissolve and eliminate pigment particles that have been shattered by laser more quickly.

Meanwhile, undergoing pigmentation treatment in summer makes it easier to determine whether the pigmentation has been completely eradicated. If the pigmentation does not recur in summer after treatment, it indicates that the treatment is thorough and reduces the risk of rebound in autumn.

Precautions for Removing Freckles in Summer

Strict Sun Protection

A study selected 92 patients who underwent laser beauty treatment. The control group received routine care, while the observation group received sun protection care on the basis of the control group. Within one month of physical sun protection, opportunities for sun exposure were avoided from 10:00-16:00. If going out is necessary, protective clothing should be worn, a sun hat should be worn on the head, and a sun umbrella should be placed. The UPF value of UV resistant clothing should exceed 50. Physical sunscreen during the recovery period+topical application of sunscreen, etc.

The research results indicate that postoperative sun protection care is particularly important for treatment effectiveness.

This is because the patient’s skin is often in a highly sensitive state after surgery, especially to light sources. The stimulation of ultraviolet rays can cause a photosensitive reaction, which can affect the repair effect of skin damage and may cause inflammatory reactions. The probability of postoperative pigmentation is also higher, and pigmentation can accelerate skin aging, seriously affecting the treatment effect.

Therefore, postoperative sun protection is very important. After using laser treatment to remove spots, patients should try to reduce their outings as much as possible, especially during the strongest stage of ultraviolet radiation (10:00 to 16:00). If they want to go out, they must be sure to cover themselves with sun protection.

Other Skin Care Methods

Within 3 days after freckle removal, the wound will have varying degrees of redness, swelling, exudation, bleeding, and scabbing. After 3 days, the swelling will gradually subside and scabbing will occur. Before peeling off the scab, it is necessary to avoid local contact with raw water and wait for the scab to naturally fall off. Scratching or rubbing the scab is not allowed. After 2 weeks, if the scab does not fall off, you can use facial cleanser to wash your face and take care of your skin normally. It is not recommended to apply makeup before and within 2 weeks after scab shedding, and to avoid using exfoliating products and skincare products with irritating effects.
